Risk Management and Safety
The physical and emotional safety of young people is always our first priority. Our programs are led by professional, experienced staff with qualifications in the relevant activities. All staff meets the requirements of the Working with Children Blue Card. Our activities comply with the requirements of Education Queensland Health and Safety Guidelines.
We have risk management systems in place across all areas of our service delivery.
Management of risk is something which is shared between PCYC, your organisation and participants. As a PCYC partner, we need you to:
- be realistic about the risks of the experience and the potential benefits for participants
- ensure participants bring appropriate clothing and equipment in accordance with our equipment list
- be diligent about collecting and providing medical, health and dietary information
- ensure all adult leaders/teachers are well prepared and supported to participate in the program
For Adventure Development programs we will work together with your organisation on the leadership of the program.
For programs where you are booking our venue and running your own program, the primary duty of care rests with your organisation.
“A life without adventure is likely to be unsatisfying, but a life in which adventure is allowed to take whatever form it will, is likely to be short” - Bertrand Russell
